The Spirit of Giving

Several days ago, I was approached by Mrs. Emeno regarding the arrival of a donor. Soon after Chantal and Mark arrived with oodles of brand new books for our school. Chantal then began to tell us why these bundles wrapped in yellow tissue paper and lilac ribbon were arriving at our school library. Chantal asked her friends and family if they could each purchase a book in honour of her daughter Sunshine who would have been five years old this March. And so, they rose to the occasion and the students of Hastings were the lucky recipients of such generosity. Each book contains a sticker saying, “In memory of Sunshine.” I know we will all keep Sunshine’s memory alive as we read the wonderful selections bestowed upon us.
